Recently a reader recommended a book called “The China Study” which I found very interesting. Based on the studies done in rural China, The book draws correlations between long term health benefits and low protein diet.

It’s amazing to see how the causes of many chronic diseases can be linked to heavy animal protein assumption. On the other hand the book also discusses the benefits of moderate meat diet and vegetarian diet, something similar to the Chinese food medicine philosophy.

When talking about Food medicine, the first thing comes to my mind is a super vegetable called Chinese bitter melon.

My love for garlic has been well documented on this site. Just take a look at previous posts and you’ll be amazed by how many times that garlic has appeared in my recipes.

Garlic and I share this love-hate relationship. I love to have it in my food as it really adds a lot of aroma to it; at the same time the penetrating garlic breath can become extremely annoying.

June is here! And that means summer is only days away (summer officially starts in mid-June in the States).

As I am anticipating having lots of fun this summer, I have already started to worried about the heat waves that often hit New York during July and August. The temperature and humidity would rise to an unbearable level that I feel lightheaded throughout the day.
