Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

2012…was a hectic but exciting year for Yi Reservation. From winning the Marx Foods Recipe Contest (thanks everyone for all your support) to posting my first cooking video on the famous buffet style Coconut Shrimp, Yi Reservation has really accomplished things above and beyond more original expectation when I first started this personal blog.

One of my New Year Resolutions is to continue to share unique authentic Asian recipes and fulfill the small but growing recipe request list from the readers. If you have requested a recipe in the comments area, please stay tuned because I’ll get to all of them! I hope to produce more cooking tutorial videos (and yes the videos are pretty time-consuming) and expand the discussions to different cultures associate to food. If you have any good suggestions for me to make this site better please don’t hesitate to drop me a line 🙂

Another New Year resolution I have is to share more quick and easy weeknight recipes that I have been doing in the past few posts. This does not mean I will not post the more elaborated recipes such as this or this dish here. It just means I’ll be making more dishes that you can whip up in less than 30 minutes after a whole day of work.

On to today’s recipe, I am presenting this super delicious and easy to make stir-fried spaghetti dish. This Spaghetti with Duck in Black Pepper Sauce dish resembles the Chinese lo main where the wheat noodles are stir-fried with protein and vegetables. The use of spaghetti is a classic early fusion play and this dish is popularized by many Hong Kong- style Cha Chaan Teng restaurants. The black pepper sauce itself is another great Cantonese-style Western flavor. If you have ever had the popular Steak in Black Pepper Sauce you would know what I mean.

With that said, whether you are a spaghetti lover or Asian food aficionado, you’ll probably find this dish a great addition to your routine menu. Not to mention it takes less than half an hour to prepare!

Step by Step Recipe

Blanch the Chinese broccoli in boiling water for about 1 minute. Drain the water and set aside.

Meanwhile, to make the sauce, combine all black pepper sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Mix well and set aside.

If have not done so, cut the roasted duck into small pieces (if you use other types of raw protein, first marinate the meat and then pre-stir-fry the meat before the next step)

Over high heat, heat up 2 tbsp of oil in a wok. Fry the onion and minced garlic until aromatic. About 1 minute.

Add cooked spaghetti, Chinese broccoli, and protein to the wok. Stir in the black pepper sauce and stir fry for about 3 minutes over high heat. Make sure you constantly stir the food to prevent it from sticking. Add additional fresh ground pepper and salt to taste.

Your recipes are awesome. Thanks for sharing. It’s easy to find Chinese recipes online but not HK style ones. Keep up the good work! 🙂

I made this with beef instead of duck, and it’s a good combo. For the spaghetti I found it neutralises the flavours. I also added too much, so that didn’t help. The saus for this recipe is a nice basis for many more recipes, I imprinted it in my mind.

love hte fusion going on there! also really love black pepper beef but have not yet tried this with duck, wasn;t sure whether it could stand up to the strong spice, but now am convinced it will be amazing!
